There was smoke, there was fire and there was even a rollover this past Tuesday evening at the Steinbach Fire Hall annual open house event.

More than 400 people came to the event to try out the driver’s seat in the fire trucks, learn to use a fire extinguisher as well as give “high fives” to Sparky the Fire Dog. The MPI vehicle rollover and Red River Fire Trailer simulations were also big attractions, demonstrating the importance of wearing a seat belt and how to be fire safe in the home. Many families enjoyed a hot dog while touring the fire hall and even tried on some of the fire protection equipment.

The annual open house event coincides with National Fire Protection Week, October 6-12th.
