On October 27, 2013, just after 12pm, St-Pierre-Jolys RCMP, local area Fire and EMS were dispatched to a report of a canoe overturned on the Red River in St. Adolphe.
Police say that two males wearing life jackets tipped their canoe and were floating in the water. The two occupants of the canoe, a 64-year-old father and his 13-year-old son, had departed earlier in the day to observe wildlife. Upon their return, the canoe was lifted on to a high wave causing them to capsize. A 60-year-old local male resident was made aware of situation, He jumped into the waters and assisted the youth to shore.
RCMP report that members of the RM of Richot Fire Department launched a zodiac boat and were successful in rescuing the father from the water. Both father and son were transported to hospital in Winnipeg. The youth has been released from hospital, while the father remains in critical condition.

RCMP have learned that the 64-year-old father involved in the boating accident passed away at the hospital.
