Between November 21-23, 2013, RCMP D Division Action Response Team (DART) was deployed in the RCMP East District, where multiple officers focused on traffic enforcement and outstanding warrants of arrest.
The Steinbach DART initiative consisted of RCMP officers from across the province deployed from their regular duties, along with a member of Ste. Anne Police Services to assist Steinbach Detachment members. These officers were selected because of their background and experience in their current duties, including, traffic enforcement, general duty and criminal intelligence gathering.
During the three-day blitz, RCMP DART members set up checkstops in Steinbach and surrounding areas, which resulted in:
- 5 people charged with Drive Over .08
- 10 24-hour alcohol-related roadside suspensions
- 5 people charged under the Liquor Control Act
- 150 people charged under the Highway Traffic Act (many of these charges included speeding and intersection infractions)
Members of DART executed two warrants of arrest, along with four subjects being charged as a result of breaching conditions which they had previously received.
The D Division Action Response Team (DART) is a crime-reduction strategy that involves leveraging RCMP resources to address specific emerging public safety issues. The RCMP is committed to preserving the peace and creating a safe environment for our communities.
