Central Plains RCMP, along with the Central Plains RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and the RCMP D Division Major Crime Services from Winnipeg, are investigating a home invasion that occurred this past weekend.
Police say that on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at about 12:15am, a male individual broke into a Southport residence. The male demanded cash and assaulted the occupants, one with a weapon.
Two female adults in the home at the time, reported sustaining non life threatening injuries. Police were advised that the male subject departed with two other subjects who had attended the residence with him.
RCMP report that Scott Hunter, 40, and Joseph McMaster, 30, both of Portage La Prairie, were arrested in connection with this incident and have since been charged with a number of charges including break and enter, assault with a weapon. Hunter and McMaster remain in custody.
Both the victims and assailants were known to each other.
