On December 16, 2013 shortly before 7pm, East St Paul RCMP along with Selkirk RCMP and local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 9 and St. Andrews Road.
Initial police investigation indicates that a Dodge Neon collided with a Mazda3 GT.
RCMP report that the driver of the Dodge Neon, a 30-year-old man from Selkirk, is in stable condition in Winnipeg. A one-year-old passenger was transported to a Winnipeg hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Mazda, a 24-year-old female from Selkirk is in critical but stable condition.
Early indication is that road conditions and speed were contributing factors.
