On Monday, March 17, 2014, officers from the Dauphin Municipal RCMP detachment received a report of an assault that occurred earlier that day.
Police say that the 32-year-old male victim, a resident of Dauphin, had received a number of cuts on his body, however his account of the incident was quite vague. On Wednesday, investigators re-interviewed the victim, who was now able to provide better details of the incident. Based on the information provided, a search warrant was obtained for a residence on Forrest Avenue West, Dauphin, Manitoba. Officers executed the warrant later that evening.
RCMP report that on Thursday afternoon, charges of aggravated assault, forcible confinement and uttering threats were laid against 4 Dauphin residents. Sheena Yvonne Shingoose, 28, has been remanded in custody to appear in Provincial Court in Dauphin on March 24, 2014. The other three people have not yet been arrested.
