On April 4, 2014, between the hours of 5am and 9am, Manitoba RCMP responded to nine motor vehicle collisions throughout the province.
Police say that icy road conditions contributed to the amount of collisions reported to RCMP, several of which involved single-vehicle rollovers.
RCMP would like to remind the public that while it may be spring, the ice and snow on the ground means motorists still need to drive for winter conditions. To help avoid a winter collision, drive for the conditions. The following are a few tips to get help get you safely to your destination:
- Slow down
- Buckle up
- Focus on the road
- Increase stopping distance
- Use steady and precise movements when steering
- Provide plenty of time to get to your destination
