On April 24, 2014, at approximately 2:35am, Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of a car-jacking on Main Street in Selkirk, Manitoba.
Police say that a male suspect threatened the victim with a knife and stole the car. The victim was unharmed during this incident.
RCMP report that the suspect then headed southbound on Highway 9. Selkirk RCMP officers pursued the vehicle, notifying Winnipeg Police Service when the suspect was approaching the City of Winnipeg. At approximately 3am, the vehicle lost control and crossed the median on Main Street and McKay Road in Winnipeg, striking two hydro poles. The suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot toward Kildonan Park. Winnipeg Police Service and RCMP created a perimeter, and the Winnipeg Police Service K9 Unit attended the scene to assist with the search.
A RCMP Forensic Traffic Reconstructionist attended the scene to assist with the investigation. The search for the suspect continues.
