On May 3, 2014, shortly after 3am, officers from the Dauphin RCMP Detachment attempted to stop a vehicle on River Avenue East in Dauphin, Manitoba.
Police say that the suspect vehicle headed north on Highway 20. Dauphin RCMP officers pursued the vehicle, notifying and receiving assistance from Winnipegosis RCMP. The suspect vehicle turned in to a private yard and came to a stop. The intoxicated male driver was arrested without incident. He was escorted to the Dauphin detachment where breath tests showed his blood alcohol concentration to be over .08 mg%.
Following his arrest, investigators determined the vehicle had been stolen from a residence in Dauphin within the preceding 24 hours.
RCMP report that Georgie Donovan Lamirande, 19, of Dauphin has been charged with a number of criminal offences including flight from police, impaired driving and possession of property obtained by crime. Lamirande was remanded in custody and appeared in Provincial Court in Dauphin on Monday.
