Employees of Penn-Co Construction Canada (2003) Ltd. voted unanimously in favour of a new three-year collective agreement providing them with increases to wages as well as travel and food allowances.

The employees, who are members of Construction Workers Local 52, affiliated with CLAC, will also benefit from new gear and safety eyewear allowances, new night shift and safety representative premiums, as well as improved paid leaves of absence provisions.

“I am pleased with the agreement,” says Tom Giesbrecht, CLAC steward and bargaining committee member. “Negotiations were productive. We discussed interests, not positions, and ended up with enough of what we wanted.”

Penn-Co Construction, located in Blumenort, builds, among other things, schools, hospitals, and water and sewage treatment plants in Manitoba.
