A sod turning took place yesterday morning for the splash park going in at E.A. Friesen Park, next to the Jake Epp Library in Steinbach. Mayor Chris Goertzen, Councillors Cari Penner and Michael Zwaagstra, together with Parks and Recreation Department Head, Russ Dyck, and Markus Reimer of Questic Contracting, were present at the event.

Questic Contracting, the company installing the splash park, plans to begin construction next week. Spray equipment will be similar to equipment at the Aquatic Centre’s splash park, which was also installed by Questic, but there will be a number of different features and the concrete pad will be slightly larger with more sprays.

The splash park will be ready for use later this summer and the total budget for the project is $300,000.
