Steinbach’s annual Pioneer Days Parade, taking place on August 1, 2014, will kick off Pioneer Days and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Mennonite Heritage Village. In honor of this milestone, the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce has chosen “New Steinbach, New Ideas, Built on our Heritage” as this year’s parade theme.
“Steinbach is really evolving and growing and we definitely want to represent that,” said Michelle Bezditny, Membership Coordinator at the Chamber, and this year’s Parade Marshall, “Steinbach also has an abundant and proud history that we want to pay tribute too.”
Main Street is expected to be packed again this year to watch the more than 100 entries, led by Honorary Parade Marshal, Penner International and Chamber of Commerce ‘2013 Business of the Year’ award recipient. Parade judges will be giving out prizes to entries in six categories including Antique Vehicle, Youth Entry and Judges Choice.
“The parade is a great event for our community and a great opportunity to showcase organizations and businesses,” said Bezditny. She noted that there is still time to enter the parade. The deadline is Wednesday, July 23rd.
The parade will start at the Fire Hall at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1st and proceed west down Main Street, ending this year at Loewen Boulevard.
