The Steinbach Chamber of Commerce is now accepting public nominations for the 2014 Business Excellence Awards.

“This really is an opportunity for customers to recognize excellence in the business community,” says Linda Peters, Executive Director at the Chamber, “and it’s the reason why the awards mean so much to nominees. Being acknowledged by customers is very satisfying and confirms that a business is meeting needs in the community.”

The public can nominate businesses in four categories: Small, Medium and Large Business of the Year, Customer Service, Community Involvement and Future Leader. Nominations are online at the Chamber website and will be accepted until August 22nd. Nominations can also be submitted by filling out a nomination form at the Chamber Office.

The awards are a two-step process. With all the nominations in, it’s time to vote. The public will be asked to go to the website again between September 3rd and 30th and select the business they feel is most deserving of the Customer Service Award. A selection committee will choose winners from the nominees for the other three categories using specific criteria.

“There is always a lot of discussion about how local business can support the community. These awards are a chance for the community to support local business – for great customer service, for leadership, for helping to make Steinbach a great place to live,” says Peters, “We really encourage everyone to participate.”

The winners will be announced and awards presented at the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting being held on November 6, 2014.
