Following an increase in funding from Manitoba Health and Healthy Living, South Eastman Health/Santé Sud‐Est Inc. is pleased to announce that the Regional Mental Health Program has expanded to provide 24 hour crisis support.

Crisis Response Services (formerly known as Mobile Crisis Service) has provided crisis services to the South Eastman area since 1997. The regional crisis response team addresses a wide range of issues that are as unique and individual as the person or family needing support. Issues range from relationship break‐ups to financial stressors, from mental health issues and conditions to suicidal thoughts, and from responding to the emotional impact of natural disasters like the recent Red River Flood to witnessing a traumatic event. This Voluntary service is open to all residents of South Eastman.

Crisis Response Services are available 24 hours a day and provide a variety of mental health supports including:

• Telephone support that suggests coping strategies;

• In‐person assessments in homes, community sites and hospitals;

• Referrals and linkages for those under 15 years of age to other agencies and care providers such as MacDonald Youth Services;

• Education, including support and/or debriefings to communities or individuals following a traumatic event or natural disaster; and,

• Transfers to out‐of‐region services as necessary

On May 29, 2009 from 11;a.m. ‐ 1 p.m., please join us at the Community Health Services Building, 365 Reimer Avenue, Steinbach, Manitoba to celebrate the expansion of the region’s Crisis Response Services.
