Today House, Steinbach’s Homeless Shelter, will be hosting the 2nd annual CEO Sleepout this Thursday, September 18 at K.R. Barkman Park in Steinbach.
With 58 local community leaders along with Today House Board members, the park will see many sleeping bags, blankets and cardboard tents as the participants attempt to stay warm for one night outside. All participants are well aware that one uncomfortable night doesn’t hold a candle to what people experiencing homelessness feel every day.
This event entails an awareness raising activity, followed up with soup at Soup’s On, and back to the park for some guest speakers and finding a spot to ‘sleep’ in the park.
It’s one way to raise awareness about what homelessness looks like in Steinbach and how we can all help. ~ Moni Loewen
Each CEO is asked to raise $100 or more and all funds will go towards the purchase of the shelter, which Today House currently rents. Last years’ CEO Sleepout raised $32,000. The goal this year is $50,000.
