On September 16, 2014, RCMP charged five individuals with unauthorized use of credit card data, three of the individuals were employees of the Dakota Ojibway Police Service.
RCMP report that three Dakota Ojibway Police Service (DOPS) employees out of the Roseau River First Nation detachment, one of the DOPS employee’s family members and one youth, also a family member, were charged with unauthorized use of credit card data.
Police say that the offences occurred between January 22 and May 10, 2014, in the Altona and Morris area. Investigation has shown that the individuals involved were using a DOPS-issued business credit card for personal purposes.
DOPS management had brought the concerns forward for review and investigation.
Facing charges of unauthorized use of credit card data is 32-year-old Sgt. Darryl Hunter of Morris, 44-year-old Cst. Derek Smoke of Morris, 34-year-old Robyn Hunter of Morris, 34-year-old Julie Seniuk of Altona, detachment clerk for DOPS, along with a 17-year-old male youth of Morris.
The five individuals will appear in Emerson Provincial Court on December 9, 2014.
