On September 30, 2014, just after 12pm, Virden RCMP responded to a report of a workplace fatality at an oil well site in the RM of Pipestone, Manitoba.

Police say that at approximately 10am, a morning crew of oil workers were working onsite when one of the workers was struck by the weight arm of a pump jack. The worker, a 20-year-old male from Wapella, Saskatchewan, was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
