On December 12, 2014, at about 5am, The Pas RCMP received a report of a stabbing at a location on Tremauden Avenue in The Pas, MB. Local RCMP, along with The Pas Emergency Services, responded to the scene.

Police say that a 42-year-old male from Opaskwayak Cree Nation was transported to the local hospital for treatment, but later died from his injuries.

Investigation and results of an autopsy have lead to the arrest of 19-year-old Race Evan Shingoose of Opaskwayak Cree Nation. Shingoose has been charged with second degree murder and has been remanded into custody. He will have his first court appearance in The Pas.

Investigation also revealed the two men were known to each other.
