MIHRSOU has provided information regarding Leon Jason Baker, 26 years of age, a convicted sex offender who is considered at high risk to become involved in further sex offences.
Baker will be released from Stony Mountain Institution, Stony Mountain, Manitoba on June 4, 2009 after serving a two-year sentence for Break, Enter and Commit Sexual Interference. Upon release, Baker will be subject to the conditions of a probation order. He is expected to take up residence in Winnipeg but he also has ties to Cranberry Portage, Manitoba and nearby communities.
Baker has a history of sexual offences in relation to female children and female youths. Although he has participated in some sexual offender treatment in the past, Baker is still considered a high risk to re-offend. Females, in particular females under age 18, are at risk of sexual violence.
This information is provided to enable members of the public to take suitable measures to protect themselves. Any form of vigilante activity or other unreasonable conduct directed at Mr. Baker will not be tolerated.
