On January 21, 2015, at about 4:30am, Central Plains RCMP and local emergency services responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the westbound lane of the Trans-Canada Highway near the Southport bypass.
Police investigation revealed that an eastbound semi-trailer, driven by a 32-year-old male from Winnipeg, left the roadway and passed through the north ditch into the westbound lane. A westbound semi-trailer, driven by a 30-year-old male from Whitemouth, struck the trailer of the eastbound semi-trailer as it crossed the westbound lane.
Police say that the driver of the eastbound semi-trailer was taken to hospital in stable condition.
RCMP report that alcohol nor road conditions were not considered a factor in the collision and both occupants of the vehicles were wearing seatbelts.
