On March 18, 2015, at approximately 8:23am, Berens River RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision in Berens River First Nation, Manitoba.
Investigation revealed that a school bus carrying five school children, aged 9 to 14-years-old, was traveling east on the main road south of the First Nation. The school bus collided with a semi-trailer that was stopped on the side of the road.
The five passengers of the school bus were tehn taken to the Berens River Nursing Station, examined, treated for minor injuries and released to families. The bus driver was not injured.
RCMP report that the cause of the collision is believed to be poor visibility from the direct sunlight from the sunrise. Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in this collision.
