On April 3, 2015, at approximately 3:20pm, Westman RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 2, near the south junction of Highway 21. The scene of the accident was near the town of Deleau, Manitoba, in the RM of Sifton.
Police say that a westbound car collided head-on with an eastbound SUV.
RCMP report that the 52-year-old male driver and lone occupant of the westbound car, a Saskatchewan resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male driver of the eastbound vehicle was transported to Winnipeg hospital with serious injuries. The female front seat passenger was also transported to local hospital, but with minor injuries. The four children in the back of the eastbound vehicle were not injured in the collision. All occupants of the second vehicle were also from Saskatchewan.
Road conditions were normal at the time if the incident and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision. All occupants of both vehicles appear to have been wearing seatbelts.
A RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
