On June 20, 2009 around 6:15 AM, Portage la Prairie RCMP and Portage ambulance responded to a complaint of an assault at a residence on Long Plain First Nation.
When police arrived, the victim, a 37 year old woman from Long Plain FN, was standing outside the house. The victim had suffered a head injury and was transported to Portage General Hospital for further treatment and then later released.
Police have identified a suspect, however no arrests have been made at this time.
The incident is still under investigation.
