On October 5, 2015 at approximately 11:45am, RCMP officers were called to 106 Road North, 2 km west of Oakburn, after receiving a call of a head-on collision involving two vehicles.
Initial police investigation revealed that an eastbound vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a westbound vehicle.
The driver of the westbound vehicle, a 51-year-old Oakburn man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other driver, along with a 2-year-old child, were transported to a local area hospital with undetermined injuries.
The Criminal Collision Investigation Team as well as a Traffic Analyst are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
