On June 29, 2009 around 2:30 AM Portage la Prairie RCMP received a complaint of a missing person in the St. Ambroise, MB area.
An 18 year old woman from Winnipeg was reported missing by her foster parents. The missing woman had some mental health concerns, and was unfamiliar with the area which added further challenges to the search. The woman went missing around midnight and when family and friends were unable to locate her they contacted the RCMP.
Portage la Prairie Fire Department was notified and was ready to assist if needed, as was Amaranth Detachment. The RCMP Hasty Search team was put on stand by, to attend when daylight broke. RCMP Police Dog Services were on scene assisting with the search. Police continued to search, and around 6:30 AM on June 29, 2009 the missing woman was located by police. No injuries were reported and she was returned to her foster parents.
