On June 30, 2009 around 12:30 AM Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of a motor vehicle rollover on Rd 33 west.

The vehicle, a pick up truck, left the roadway and went into the ditch where it rolled. One of the passengers, a 15 year old woman, left the scene and went to a nearby residence for help. The resident contacted police while her husband went to the scene with the passenger. When police arrived at the scene they found two male passengers, one was 16 years old and the other was 18, both are from the RM of Portage la Prairie. The driver of the vehicle had left the scene before police arrived.

The three passengers were transported to Portage General Hospital for treatment. The youth female and 18 year old man were released from PGH, the 16 year old was transferred to Health Science Centre in Winnipeg for treatment.

Police searched the area for the driver, and located him about an hour later. The driver showed signs of injury and was transported to PGH by ambulance.

The cause of the collision is under investigation, however alcohol is believed to be a factor.
