At about 9:20 a.m. on the 14th December 2008, Spruce Plains RCMP,  Minnedosa Detachment  responded to a single motor vehicle collision on the Rolling River First Nation, North of Minnedosa.

Preliminary investigation indicated that a 1994 Chevrolet Astro Van left the gravel road and became stuck in the snow and brush.  One male occupant. a 62-year-old resident of Rolling River First Nation was recovered from the vehicle by local Emergency Medical Services and transported to Brandon Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  An autopsy is scheduled for December 15th in Brandon to determine cause of death.

Investigation has determined that the collision occurred around 12:30 a.m. on the 14 December 2008, and that three other people were in the vehicle at the time of the collision.  All three are currently in custody at the Minnedosa RCMP Detachment. No charges have been laid at the time of this release.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of RCMP Traffic Analyst and the RCMP Brandon Major Crime Services.  Alcohol is  believed to be a factor.
