On May 7, 2016, at approximately 10am, officers from Headingley RCMP received a report of a collision involving two pickup trucks on Road 4W, just south of Highway 2.
Initial police investigation has revealed that the vehicles collided head-on after one of the drivers crossed over the centre of the road and into the path of the oncoming vehicle.
RCMP report that the driver of one of the trucks, a 62-year-old woman from Starbuck, was air lifted to hospital and remains in stable condition. The driver of the second vehicle, a 23-year-old man from the RM of Macdonald, was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no passengers in either of the vehicles.
A traffic analyst is assisting the ongoing investigation in order to establish the contributing factors. Police say that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
