The General Manager of World Pork Expo says this year’s edition of the annual event will feature two separate streams of educational sessions.
World Pork Expo, slated for tomorrow, Thursday and Friday at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines is expected to attract well over 20,000 visitors from around the world.
The event is hosted by the National Pork Producers Council and 2016 marks the 28th annual edition of the show.
World Pork Expo General Manager Sheila Warrick says this is the world’s largest pork specific trade show and this year’s highlights will include a full slate of seminars tomorrow and Thursday.
Seminars are actually happening all throughout the day between 8:00 and 5:00 pm. Some of those topics are really a great opportunity for pork producers to collect new ideas and take back home and network with other producers and discuss challenges and successes alike that they’re having within their operations. Some of the topics that we have this year, piglet nutrition and gut health, optimizing performance, even preparing piglets at birth for successful growth. Everything from business strategies to production management ideas and updates on programs and industry issues. We have anything from the farrowing house all the way to the global, market place.
We also common topics that we’ll discuss, our common swine industry audits, helping pork producers be prepared for that and also anything from biosecurity. We have our business seminars and we also have our pork academy, so you have two separate tracks that folks can actually attend going on at the same time. ~ Sheila Warrick-World Pork Expo
Warrick notes, in addition to the seminars, this year’s trade show will feature close to 900 exhibits displaying the latest innovations within the pork industry.
