Shortly after 4pm on Friday, July 17, 2009, two Winnipeg men were arrested in Dauphin following a short vehicle and foot chase.
Officers attempted to stop a van that was believed to have been stolen from the Winnipegosis area as it was driving in to the City of Dauphin. Before officers could initiate a traffic stop, the driver and passengers abandoned the van in a back lane in the northeast area of Dauphin. Officers from Ethelbert and Dauphin, with the assistance of the Dauphin Major Crimes Unit and Dauphin Police Dog Service, saturated the area and located the two men on foot and took them into custody.
Clayton Joey Chartrand, 18-years-old, and Isaac James Desmarais, 21-years-old, have been remanded in custody to appear in Dauphin Court July 20, 2009 on an number of criminal charges including possession of property obtained by crime.
The investigation continues.
