At approximately 5:30am on July 23, 2009, the RCMP in Oxford House, along with the Oxford House First Nation Band Police, were called to a complaint of a home invasion.
Two males, one wielding a knife, forced their way into a residence and attacked the occupants who were asleep. The occupants were able to call police and fight off the attackers. Upon arriving at the scene, a local Band Police officer located the suspects just outside the residence and wrestled the knife away from the assailants who had threatened the officer. The young suspect, who was in possession of the weapon, was apprehended by police while the other suspect fled the scene. Fortunately, no one was hurt in this incident.
Oxford House RCMP have charged a 17-year-old youth from Oxford House with break, enter and commit assault with a weapon, assaulting a police officer, uttering threats and nine counts of breaching probation orders.The youth was remanded into custody.
Oxford House RCMP are continuing the investigation and are seeking to locate the second suspect involved in this matter, a 19 year old male who is known to police.
