On August 28, 2009 at about 11am, RCMP St. Pierre Jolys Detachment were dispatched to a collision involving a train and a delivery cube truck on Highway 305 west of Loeppky Road near Niverville.

The driver of the truck was heading eastbound on Highway 305 when it collided with a north bound CP freight train destined for Winnipeg. The male driver, a 52-year-old from Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, suffered minor non-life threatening injuries and was taken to St. Pierre Jolys Hospital. The driver has since been released.

The driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, which in the RCMP’s opinion, saved his life.

Alcohol is not considered a contributing factor.

RCMP is continuing the investigation.
