A new winter semester has begun and there is extra excitement in the air at Providence College and Seminary in Otterburne. The $5 million project began with a groundbreaking ceremony on Feb.29, 2008 and after nearly a year of construction, the new Student Life Centre is complete.
The centre is home to a new kitchen and dining hall, two multi-purpose rooms, English Language Institute offices and classrooms, and a luxurious student lounge. “The centre will help serve our much bigger purpose of fostering global humanitarianism, and all our students will have a home-away-from-home in which to interact,” says Dr. Gus Konkel, president of Providence.
The dedication will be a celebration of the new 23,000 square foot facility as well as a formal opportunity to recognize donors and those involved in the construction of the building. The Honourable Vic Toews, MP for Provencher and President of the Treasury Board, will be in attendance and will bring greetings. Several other VIP’s will also be in attendance and will bring greetings from the province and local rural municipality.
All are invited to the Otterburne campus for a tour of the new Student Life Centre and to be a part of the dedication on Friday, Jan.9, 2009 at 2 pm.
