On October 03, 2009 at 12:40am Lac Du Bonnet RCMP Detachment along with Fire and EMS were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 317 in the Rural Municipality of Lac Du Bonnet.
RCMP discovered that a 2003 Toyota Corolla car had driven off the highway and rolled into a field. A 24-year-old man believed to be the driver and a resident of Winnipeg was transported to the Beausejour Hospital and later transported to the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre and remains in critical condition. The 24-old-year passenger also a man from Winnipeg was transported to the Selkirk and District Hospital and later released.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor and the matter remains under investigation.
Names of the victims are not being released.
Update: 10/04/09 5:43pm
On October 03, 2009 at 11:50pm Lac Du Bonnet RCMP were advised that the 24-year-old man and driver of the vehicle had succumbed to his injuries while at the Health Sciences Centre. The family of the deceased have been notified and the name of the deceased is not being released. An autopsy will be scheduled however a date has not been set.
Lac Du Bonnet RCMP continue to investigate.
