On October 2, 2009 at about 2:30pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a complaint of a vehicle theft in progress.
Investigation revealed that a lone male was observed driving away in a pickup truck by the owner. Police were notified, and the subject was located and arrested in a shopping center parking lot without incident.
A 24-year-old male, Dustin Oliver McConnell, has been charged with theft of motor vehicle under $5,000 and remains in custody.
