A number of municipalities in the southeast have decided that they will take advantage of a grant that is available to help their communities improve services within the library.

Municipalities with community libraries have agreed to accept funding as an annual conditional grant through a provincially established rural library technology sustainability grant program.

The RM’s of Ritchot, Tache, La Broquerie, and De Salaberry are among the municipalities to accept the grant.

A new $300 ongoing Library Sustainable Technology Grant provides assistance to libraries for technology purchasing, as well as the larger scale cooperative development of library technology, as directed by the library community in partnership with the branch.

The funds are provided annually through the province’s Building Manitoba Fund with the purpose of enabling rural public libraries to meet the demand for new library technology. The funds are in addition to the annual provincial operating grants and municipality contributions already paid to public libraries.
