On November 12, 2009, shortly after 11am, RCMP Deloraine Detachment members were dispatched to a fire at EOG Resources Canada Inc. near the Community of Waskada in the RM of Brenda at their oil battery processing facility.

The Deloraine Fire Department has been on scene and roads, a square mile around the facility, have been closed to traffic by the RCMP to ensure public safety. 

No injuries have been reported and the cause is unknown at present.

The Waskada Fire Department, Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner and local EMS are also on scene with further assistance being obtained by Fire Masters out of Weyburn, Saskatchewan in dealing with the fire. The fire is currently under control. No one was evacuated other than the five employees on-site.

RCMP Deloraine members advise that the fire is now out. The perimeter is now being maintained by EOG Resources Canada Inc.

Update 11/19/09 3:15pm

With the assistance of the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner, the cause of the fire at the oil battery processing facility has been attributed to a faulty gasket. The fire is not deemed suspicious in nature.
