On the afternoon of November 21, 2009, the Winnipegosis and Dauphin RCMP were involved in the pursuit of a suspected impaired driver.

The vehicle, a black four door sedan, had been reported as hitting a light standard in the community of Winnipegosis earlier in the day.

The vehicle was located by police 20 kilometres north of Dauphin on highway 20 and would not stop for police until it was disabled with the use of two spike belts.

The pursuit lasted approximately 60 kilometres over two Rural Municipalities and reached speeds of 100 KPH.

After successfully stopping the vehicle, police discovered that the front seat passenger was a 7-year-old child.

Charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle, refusing to provide a breath sample, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to comply with a probation order, flight from police and several provincial statue charges are pending against the 37-year-old female driver.

No one was injured during this incident.
