The Provencher Liberals are proud to announce a new scholarship program, in honour of former Provencher MP David Iftody.
The David Iftody Memorial Scholarship is an award of excellence, which acknowledges academic achievement and community involvement. The Provencher Liberals recognize that being part of the community means participating in the community. The Scholarship program, developed by the Young Liberal Committee, is an effort to assist the youth in our community.
Those eligible for the scholarship include grade twelve students who reside within the electoral district of Provencher. Applicants for the scholarship must also meet the criteria as stated in the application form.
The scholarship consists of two parts, an academic portion and an essay portion. The academic portion of the application evaluates the applicant’s grades over their high school years. The essay portion looks at the applicant’s past achievements and future aspirations. By combining these two aspects of an application, the recipients will be selected.
All applications will be split into two regions, a northern region and a southern region. The northern region includes all applicants from the Sunrise, Whiteshell, and Seine River School Divisions. The southern region includes the Hanover, Red River Valley, and Borderland School Divisions. One applicant from each region will be selected as a recipient of this scholarship. Each winning applicant will receive a $250 monetary award, which can be used towards any accredited post-secondary institution in Manitoba.
The deadline for applications is May 1, 2010. The recipient of the scholarship will be announced on or before June 1, 2010.
