On December 5, 2009 at approximately 3:05am, Selkirk RCMP were dispatched to an armed robbery at the Shell Gas Station and Convenience Store located on Main Street in the City of Selkirk.

A lone suspect entered the store wearing a disguise armed with a knife and bear mace. The suspect began spraying an employee and a customer with bear mace before a customer was able to disarm the suspect. The suspect fled on foot and after a brief chase the suspect was apprehended by a customer and the employee before being turned over to the RCMP.

RCMP have charged 31-year-old Jennifer Evelyn Law of Selkirk with robbery with a weapon, assault with a weapon, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Law was remanded into custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre and first appeared in Winnipeg Court on December 7, 2009.
