On December 8, 2009 at about 10:30am, RCMP Little Grand Rapids Detachment were dispatched to a fatal snowmobile collision on Family Lake in the Community of Little Grand Rapids.
A 43-year-old man, resident of Little Grand Rapids, was found unresponsive. He was transported to the local nursing station but succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation determined that the lone snowmobile driver was riding on Family Lake when he lost control of the machine, rolled and landed with the snowmobile on a dock.
Alcohol and speed may have contributed to the collision. The rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The investigation continues.
