On December 9, 2009 at 9:30pm, Minnedosa RCMP were conducting a traffic patrol when a 2006 Porsche Cayenne with Alberta licence plate, traveling eastbound was stopped for a traffic violation on Highway 16, 5 kilometres west of Neepawa.
Members detected a strong odour of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The occupants were detained and the vehicle searched. Located within the vehicle was 4.5 lbs of marijuana, 15,600 mg of steroids, 39 grams marijuana resin (hash) and over $38,0000 in cash as well as other drug items.
The driver of the vehicle, 33-year-old Dwayne Dennis Gaudet of Calgary, Alberta and 50-year-old Robert Garth Sanderson, also of Calgary, have been charged with 10 charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking, possession of steroids, and possession of marijuana under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, as well as possession of property obtained by crime under the criminal code of Canada.
The RCMP Integrated Proceeds of Crime Section is also investigating.
Both men have been remanded into custody and are to appear in Brandon Court on December 11, 2009.
