On the morning of December 10, 2009, at about 4:30am, RCMP Ste. Rose du Lac Detachment, along with the Ste. Rose Fire Department and Parkland EMS, responded to a house fire at a residence two miles west of Ste. Rose du Lac.
The house was fully engulfed in flames.
The Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner, RCMP Forensic Identification Services and Dauphin Major Crime Unit were on scene assisting the RCMP Ste. Rose du Lac Detachment with the investigation.
The cause of the fire is unknown at present and remains under investigation and damage estimates are not known, however, the house has been completely destroyed by the fire.
At present, the RCMP can confirm that two bodies have been removed from the house. The identity of the deceased, while suspected, cannot be positively confirmed at present.
The bodies have been taken to the Health Sciences Centre for an autopsy.

An autopsy was conducted at the Health Sciences Centre on the two deceased found in the residence. Identification of the two deceased, while suspected, has yet to be confirmed. The cause of death has been attributed to smoke inhalation. RCMP is awaiting confirmation on the cause of the fire from the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner.
