On December 24, at approximately 2pm, Selkirk RCMP Detachment responded to a three vehicle collision on Highway 9, just south of Provincial Road 410, that claimed the life of a 75-year-old St. Andrews man.

The investigation to date has revealed that a Chevy Lumina was traveling south on Highway 9 when the vehicle lost control and hit another southbound vehicle. The Lumina then traveled into the northbound lane where it was struck by northbound pick-up truck.

The driver of the Lumina died at the scene. The driver of the pick-up was taken to hospital in Winnipeg with unknown injuries. The driver of the third vehicle was not injured. All three vehicles had single occupants.

Highway 9 at the time of the accident was snow covered and very slippery.

A collision analyst was called to the scene and the investigation is continuing.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in this collision.
