Two sets of remains found at a Shamattawa house fire earlier this week have been examined and one has been positively identified.
Today the post mortem was conducted at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg on two sets of remains found at a Shamattawa house fire which occurred on January 2, 2010. After examination, positive identification has not been completed on one body found while the other set of remains has been conclusively identified as animal remains.
The fire is being investigated as an arson / homicide. Early on the morning of January 7, 2010, a 16-year-old local youth was arrested in connection with the fire. No charges have been formerly laid as of yet.
The search for bodies is complete, however, RCMP will remain at the house since it is being treated as a crime scene.
The investigation continues.
