On January 11, 2010, at approximately 11pm, Virden RCMP attended an accident between a semi-truck and a 2009 Dodge Caliber on Highway 2 in the RM of Sifton, Manitoba.
The semi-truck was west bound and the car was east bound when they collided head-on. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were both ejected from the vehicle. The driver, a 46-year-old male from St. Andrews, Manitoba, was found deceased at the scene and the passenger who had injuries was taken to the Brandon Regional Hospital.
The semi-truck driver was not injured.
The accident occurred in a curve. There was blowing snow at the time which had reduced visibility as well as the corner did have snow on it.
Investigation into this accident continues.
