On January 14, 2010, at 1:45pm, Headingley and Morris RCMP Detachments received a call of a hog barn fire in the RM of McDonald.
The barn belonged to Sunnybrook Swine Inc. of Manitoba.
Fire Departments from the RM of McDonald, Morris and Rosenort attended and extinguished the fire. Seven employees were inside the barn at the time of the fire and all were able to exit the barn without any injuries.
Approximately 3000 hogs were inside the barn at the time of the fire of which twelve were lost during the fire.
RCMP, with the assistance of the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioners, continue to investigate. The cause has yet to be determined and the estimate of damage are not known at the present time.
