Charges have been laid in regards to a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred north of Thompson on January 21, 2010.

24-year-old Simon Julien of Thompson, died when his 2007 Honda Civic collided head-on with a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee on highway 391, approximately 2 kilometres north of Thompson. 

19-year-old Tyson David Tyler Brightnose of Thompson has been charged with impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, driving over .08 causing death, driving over .08 causing bodily harm, two counts of breach of probation and two counts of breach of recognizance. Brightnose has also been charged with public mischief for attempting to mislead the investigation and has been remanded in custody to appear in Thompson court on January 25, 2010.   

A-16 year-old male youth has also been released from custody for a future court date and will be facing charges of public mischief for attempting to mislead investigators as to who the driver was. The youth cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
