Just before 4:30pm on March 7, 2010, police, fire and ambulance personnel were called to the scene of a snowmobile collision approximately 30 kilometres southwest of the City of Dauphin.

Investigators determined that a group of snowmobilers were traveling east on a groomed trail in the Keld district, when one of the machines went off the trail and struck a culvert. The operator and lone occupant, was thrown from the snowmobile.

The driver, a 40-year-old Dauphin man, was taken to the Dauphin Hospital and has since been transferred to a Winnipeg hospital for treatment of his injuries which include a broken leg.

Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor.

The investigation continues.
