Minnedosa RCMP have now laid charges in the weekend death of a 62-year-old resident of the Rolling River First Nation.
On December 14, 2008 at about 9:20 a.m., RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision on the Rolling River First Nation where a male individual had been left in the vehicle for approximately 9 hours and subsequently died of hypothermia.
Police initially arrested 3 persons who had been in the vehicle and two have since been released with no related charges. All three persons as well as the deceased were residents of Rolling River First Nation and are known to each other.
The third subject, Phillip Huntinghawk (20 yrs of age) has been remanded in custody to appear in Brandon Provincial Judges court on December 16, 2008.
He has been charged with the following offences:
• Criminal Negligence Causing Death
• Driving While Impaired
• Driving While Disqualified
• Breach of Undertaking
• Breach of Probation
